In 1869, near Brentford, New Hampshire, two boys hope to bury a chest that he will remain hidden. A century later, in 1969, Alan Parish escapes and hides from a group of goons in a shoe factory owned by his father, Sam. He meets carl Bentley, an employee who unveils the prototype of a new shoe he has made. Allen keeps the shoe inthewrong way and damages a machine, but Carl takes responsibility and loses his job. After being beaten by the bullies, who also steal their bicycles, Allen follows the sound of the aboriginal sinking at a construction site and finds the chest, with a board game called Jumanji, and brings him home.

After an argument with Sam about attending a boarding school, Allen tells his father that he hates him and makes escape plans. Sarah Whittel, her friend, comes back to her bicycle. With each roll of the dice, the pieces of the game move by itself and a puzzle, describing the result of the roll, appears in the crystal ball in the center of the board. Sarah reads the puzzle first and listens to the squid in the fireplace. Allen then inadvertently rotates the dice after being staggered by the chiming clock; No five or eight rolls until the puzzle asks him to wait in the forest, and he gets sucked into the jungle world of the game. Suddenly, a bunch of bats fly out of the chimney and chase Sasara from the mansion.
